BAR FACE: AT TOP THE OVAL STAMPED SEAL OF THE U.S. MINT AT SAN FRANCISCO, WHICH HAS A HERALDIC AMERICAN EAGLE WITH OUTSTRETCHED WINGS CLUTCHING AN OLIVE BRANCH IN THE RIGHT TALON AND THREE ARROWS IN THE LEFT; STAMPED IN THE CENTER OF THE BAR IS THE SERIAL NUMBER"659", BELOW WHICH IS STAMPED "999.75" AND THE WORD "FINE." STAMPED AT BOTTOM.
BAR REVERSE: STAMPED "5.55 OZS".
BARS OF THIS TYPE COULD BE ACCEPTED FROM THE MINT IN LIUE OF COIN. BARS OF THIS ERA ARE VERY HARD TO FIND, AND AS SUCH, ENJOY A GREAT POPULARITY AMONG COLLECTORS.
