BAR FACE: AT TOP THE OVAL STAMPED SEAL OF THE U.S. MINT AT SAN FRANCISCO, WHICH HAS A HERALDIC AMERICAN EAGLE WITH OUTSTRETCHED WINGS CLUTCHING AN OLIVE BRANCH IN THE RIGHT TALON AND THREE ARROWS IN THE LEFT; STAMPED IN THE CENTER OF THE BAR IS THE SERIAL NUMBER"786", BELOW WHICH IS STAMPED "999.5" AND THE WORD "FINE." STAMPED AT BOTTOM.
BAR REVERSE: STAMPED "5.66 OZS" ABOVE WHICH IS PENNED IN INK "5 66".
BARS OF THIS TYPE COULD BE ACCEPTED FROM THE MINT IN LIUE OF COIN. BARS OF THIS ERA ARE VERY HARD TO FIND, AND AS SUCH, ENJOY A GREAT POPULARITY AMONG COLLECTORS.
