THE SEYCHELLES PARADISE FLYCATCHER BIRD (TERPSIPHONE CORVINA), IS A MEMBER OF THE GENUS OF MONARCH FLYCATCHERS. THEY ARE RARE BIRDS AND CONSIDERED TO BE ON THE CRITICALLY ENDANGERED LIST. THE MALE HAS CHARACTERISTIC LONG STREAMER TAILS AND ARE GLOSSY BLACK WITH A DEEP BLUE SHEEN, WHEREAS THE FEMALES HAVE RUST OR CHESTNUT COLORED UPPERPARTS, WHITISH-CREAM UNDERPARTS AND BLUE LEGS, BILL AND FACE. THE SPECIES EXISTS ENTIRELY ON THE ISLE OF LA DIGUE IN THE SEYCHELLES AND THERE IS A RESERVE THERE FOR ITS PROTECTION. THERE WERE 139 PAIRS IN THE YEAR 2000, BUT THEIR NUMBERS HAVE BEEN INCREASING, AND THERE ARE PLANS TO ESTABLISH A POLULATION ON ANOTHER ISLAND AS WELL.
